In 2024, I travelled to Greenland for the very first time—a journey so long it involved several small propeller planes and at least one moment where I wondered whether my luggage would arrive… or beat me there. But every minute of travel was worth it, because nothing prepared me for how overwhelming this place would be.

Majestic icebergs drifting past like silent giants, a landscape so vast it feels almost sacred, and a stillness so deep you can hear yourself think—whether you want to or not. And then there’s the endless daylight: 24 hours of brightness, as if the sun simply forgot to go home.

I heard one of the most beautiful quotes of my life there, a sentence that captures Greenland better than any camera ever could:

“In winter, there is a special light, not just darkness. The snow fell without a sound, and in the bay you could hear the whale breathe.”

Originally, this trip was meant to be once in a lifetime. But after standing among the ice, listening to that quiet magic, I knew instantly: I have to come back. Some places don’t just stay in your memory – they call you back, softly, like the whale breathing in the bay.
